Hand Flowers

My kids made these this spring.  I had found something like this one Pinterst and thought we would try it out.  It turned out SUPER cute too!! (Dont you think??)

For this project you will need.
  • Construction Paper
  • Finger Paint
  • Q-Tips
I drew the posts on the construction paper, my daughter cut hers out (the purple) and I helped my son cut out his (the yellow).
We first did their hands.  I used a q-tip and dipped that into the paint then covered their hands with green paint.  Make sure not to do the tips of their fingers in green tho.
Next we did the petal colors.  Dip the q-tip in the color of paint that you would like to use and cover the tips of their finger.  Do this four times for each finger.
After the petals are done you can do the center of the flowers.  Again, use a q-tip with the yellow paint, and again just do the tip of the finger.
Set aside for it to dry!

Hamburger Salad

My sister and I came up with this one awhile ago.  We had made hamburgers and soon discovered we had NO buns & NO bread!... So what is the next best thing?  A Hamburger Salad!

For this recipe you will need...
  • 1 lb of cooked hamburger
  • 1 diced tomatoe (optional)
  • 1 diced onion (optional)
  • 1/2 head of lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
**In the picture I was out of shredded cheese and used sliced instead.
**If you want just a single salad you will have to cut the recipe down as it is enough for a potluck.

Orange Danish Waffles

My kids loved these!  You could do them with any premade roll.  We used Orange Danish from our local Hy-Vee.

Here is a picture of using just one danish in the waffle iron.  I didn't get a picture of it, but if you put a roll in each section it works the best.

My kids ate them, with butter and the frosting that came with the danishes.

For this recipe you will need...
  • 1 package of Orange Danishes (or any kind you choose)

Best Watermelon of the Year

I thought I would share this with all of you...

My inlaws took my kiddos to a local pumpkin patch a few weeks ago.  They got this watermelon there also.  It was HUGE!  It was also one of the BEST watermelons we have had this year... All 43lbs of it! :)

Here is another picture to show the size.  It is sitting on our stove next to a liter pop bottle.

Teacher Thank You Cup

For this project you will need...
  • 1 drink cup
  • water flavor mix-ins
  • paper for the flag

My then 4 year old daughter help me make these for her teachers at the end of the school year.  They are super easy to make and REALLY easy to put together!

The drink mix ins are a HIT at our house so we always have TONS of them laying around.  These I got at Wal-Mart, usually you can find them by the kool-aid.

We used the following flavors in our cup...
  • Cherry
  • Peach Mango Green Tea
  • Wild Strawberry
  • Grape
  • Energy Grape
  • Lemonade
  • Fruit Punch
  • Hawian Punch
We put one of each flavor in the cup.

For the flag on the straw I wrote it out on the "Paint" program, I am sure you could use word also.
I put an apple  and the saying "Thank You for quenching my thirst for knowledge".
You could also cut the flag and let the kids color it and/or write on it.

We found the cup at Wal-Mart also.

TerraCycle Capri Sun Pencil Case Giveaway

a Rafflecopter giveaway

TerraCycle Back-To-School Review

**Terracycle sent me products, at no cost to myself, for my 100% honest opinion on their products.

The first product I recieved from TerraCycle was the Starburst Rectangular Lunch Box.  This would be a great size for taking to school, or even to work!  It was sewn together really good and seems like it would hold up for an elementary kids abuse, or the rolling around in the car on the way home from work everyday.  :)   I also LOVED the bright colors of this one.

I couldn't find the Starburst Rectangular Lunch Box on their site, but found the Capri Sun Rectangular Lunch Box which is pretty much the same.  You can see the Capri Sun one by clicking here.

Here are some things that I pulled from the website about the Rectangular Lunch Box...
  • Dimensions: 6" T x 9" W x 4" D
  • This unusual material make for an unusual twist on the traditional insulated lunch box.

The other item that I recieved to review ws the Pencil Case.  This would work great for the kids in school that need to carry pens, pencils, and markers around with them.  Like the Lunch Box, the Pencil Case is sewn together very well.

The Pencil case cost 1.99 and can be bought from here.

Here are some facts that I found on the TerraCycle website...
  • TerraCycle is widely considered the world’s leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable, post-consumer waste.

I thought this one was pretty interesting!!

2012 was another record year for TerraCycle.
It marked the 9th straight year of revenue growth as well as the launch of the world’s first recycling program for one of the most commonly littered items on the planet – cigarette butts. After launching the program in Canada in May, it was quickly expanded to the US and Spain with help from Santa Fe Natural Tobacco and British American Tobacco, respectively.
The collected cigarette butts are recycled into plastic pellets and used to make industrial products like shipping pallets.

Downy Unstopables/Scentsy Warmer

I recently seen a pin on Pinterest about using the Downy Unstopables in a Scentsy warmer and thought I would try it out.  I have an extra top from a broken pot, so if it didn't work out I wasn't out anything besides the $1.00 for the Unstopables.

I found a "one time use" package of Unstopables for $1.00 at Target recently and opted to buy these instead of a big bottle in case this didn't turn out.

(large Scentsy warmer)

I tried is out in both a large Scentsy warmer and a Mid-size Scentsy warmer.

(mid-size Scentsy Warmer)

As you can see from the pictures I didn't but a lot in the warmer tops.  If you have ever used a Scentsy warmer before you know how easy they clean up.  The Unstopables weren't as easy, but they were still pretty easy.  The paper towel didn't soak the melted beads up, but they wiped right out.

The first time I used them I only used them in my large warmer and dumped about 2x as much in.  My whole house smelled of Unstopables! :)  ( I live in a one level 3 bedroom house!)  I didn't use as much this time, but I added a second warmer also and it isn't as intense this time.

I think you would be able to get about 6-8 uses out of the small package that I bought.

** I already owned the Scentsy pot. Scentsy does not recommend using anything BUT their waxes in their warmers, if you use anything but their waxes you void ANY warranty they have for their pots. Use the Unstopables at your OWN risk. Scentsy, Downy & CrazieyMommiey are not responsible for any damages caused by using the Unstopables in the warmer.

Great Value Queso Blanco Cheese Dip

I purchased this at Wal-Mart for my famly, but decided to also reviewit.  This was NOT given to me to review.

This cheese dip is the Wal-Mart Great Value brand.  The flavor of it is Queso Blanco.  It didn't taste much like cheese, but was very spicy.  I don't think I would buy this one again because it was too spicy for my taste.  Also, besides the spice didn't have much for flavor.  I woud buy the more expensive brand next time to get the better flavor.

Flings Bins Giveaway

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Flings Pop-up Recycle & Trash Bins

Flings pop-up recycle & trash bins sent me two (2) bins to review with my honest opinion at no cost to myself.

I was pretty excited when I got the "yes" to review for Flings Bins.  Something new and exciting to try out!

Here is a little about Flings Bins..
  • GREAT for parties, Flings Bins can go where "real" trash/recycle cans can not!
  • Easy to use
  • Fit GREAT in a bag to pack for a party
  • 100% biodegradable/degradable
  • Fun colors & patterns for any occasion
  • Each bin ships the size of half a pizza box
  • Stands by itself

I received two bins to review.  When I opened these and set them up they were smaller than what I had pictured in my mind.  To my surprise though they hold a LOT.  I used the recycle bin for all of my recyclables.  I live in the country ,and we don't have the option to recycle unless we run it into town all the time, and I HATE having the white trash bags laying in my garage when we forget to run them to town.  Using the Flings Bins Recycle bin I don't have the ugly white trash bags laying around.  The Flings Bins also hold a lot more than what I thought, so that is a GREAT plus!
The Flings Bins POP UP Woman's Day bin I thought would work wonderfully for my pop cans/pop bottles.  According to the website these 13 gallon bins can hold up to 60 cans/bottles.  I lined mine with a trash bag so I can use it more then once and not have to worry about any spilled pop from my pop cans.

Click here to see a fun interactive demo about Flings Bins.

The Women's Day bin (polka dots) that I received cost $6.99 on Amazon.com
The Recycle bin that I received, a pack of 10 cost $34.99 on Amazon.com

S'mores Snack Mix 2

Have you ever wondered what to do with all of those Tootsie Rolls that you get at parades in the summer time??  Here is a GREAT recipe to use some of those up!

You will need...
  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmellows ( I used the small colored ones, but any will do!)
  • Tootsie Rolls
  1. Take one sleeve of graham crackers and break them into small bite size pieces.
  2. Dump those into a large bowl.
  3. Dump the bag of marshmellows into the bowl.
  4. Unwrap and cut the tootsie rolls into 2-3 pieces and dump those into the bowl.
  5. Mix it all together and you have a s'mores snack! :)

When you use the tootsie rolls you don't have to worry about them melting like chocolate, but you will still have the chocolate taste!

S'mores Snack Mix

You will need..

  • Golden Grahams ( I used Honey Grahams)
  • Marshmellows ( I had some left over from the 4th of July)
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Baggies

I put 1 cup of Honey Grahams, 1/4 cup of Chocolate Chips, and 10-15 Mashmellows into the baggies.  They were placed in the pantry where the kids could grab them when they wanted a snack.  These were a big hit with them!

Campbell's Go Soups

I was sent a full size sample of Campbell's Go, Spicy Chorizo, from Smiley360 to try out.

The Campbell's Go soup is great for a work lunch, or for someone on the go.

This one is the Spicy Chorizo with pulled chicken & black beans.

You can warm the soup right in the pouch!  It is SUPER easy to do!!

First you tear on the dotted line to vent the pouch.  You then microwave it for 2-2.5 mins.  When you take the pouch out of the microwave the sides are cool to the touch while the soup is super hot.  You then pour it into a bowl and enjoy!
You can also warm it on a stove top by opening the bag then pouring it into a saucepan over medium heat till warmed/heated all the way.

The Spicy Chorizo had GREAT flavor, but I wasn't a fan of the meat in it.

When I think of pulled chicken I think that it would be like a shredded chicken.  This was more like a chicken hotdog.

The veggies were great!  Also, if you like spicy foods your should really try this!

I was able to try this thanks to Smiley360 .  Check them out and/or sign up here! :)

Pink Lemonade Monkey Bread

I stumbled upon a recipe on Pinterest for Monkey Bread that used dry cake mix.  I changed the recipe a bit and this is what I came up with... and it was pretty good!

You will need..
2 cans of biscuits (flaky will work just not that great)
2 sticks of butter (melted)
1 box dry cake mix (any will work, I used Pink Lemonade)
6 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 9x13 pan

  • Spray the 9x13 pan with Pam cooking spray and then cover with some of the dry cake mix/brown sugar mixture (do this instead of using flour)
  • Mix the vanilla and melted butter in a bowl and set aside
  • Mix the dry cake mix and brown sugar in another bowl and set aside

Next cut up the biscuits in 6-8 pieces each.

Then coat each piece with the melted butter/vanilla mixture.

Then put the coated butter/vanilla pieces in the dry cake mix/brown sugar mix and coat good.

Then put those pieces in the 9x13 pan.

Continue to repeat the above pictured steps till the biscuits are all coated and in the 9x13 pan.  Bake at 375 degrees for 10 mins or till the biscuits have cooked all the way through.

The Lemon Frosting Glaze goes GREAT on top of this!

Build-A-Bear SpongeBob & Patrick

** Build-A-Bear sent both Sponge Bob & Patrick for me to review at no cost to me, but my time, for my honest opinion & review of the items.

I was pretty excited when Build-A-Bear returned my e-mail to review an item, and even more excited when they told me they would send both SpongeBob & Patrick!

When we got the package I think my kids were even more excited to get another stuffed animal then I was to review them!  They have been taking them EVERYWHERE we go and are GREAT for pillows in the car for trips.

The stitching holds up GREAT after being washed, and they don't get pilly or lumpy like some stuffed animals do after washing.

Homemade Febreeze

Do you LOVE using Febreeze.. but HATE the cost and how fast a bottle goes??  Well search no more!

I stubbled upon a recipe to make your own and I FINALLY tried it.. and I am HOOKED!  It is super easy to make as well.

You will need...
Fabric Softner of your choice (I use Gain Orignal scent)
an empty spray bottle (I just used my old Febreeze bottle)
Baking Soda

The recipe called for 1/8 cup.. but I think on my next bottle I will use 1/2 cup.

Mix 1/8 cup fabric softner
2Tablespoons Baking Soda
Top bottle with warm/hot water
Shake/Mix
Spray!

You would NEVER know it isn't actual Febreeze in the bottle.

Cheesy Green Beans

Cheesy Grean Beans

These are a HUGE hit in my family & they are SUPER easy to make!

You will need...
1 can of green beans (any cut will do)
1 slice of cheese (I use the Kraft Singles)

  • Place the drained green beans in a sauce pan on low heat
  • Place the slice of cheese on top.
  • When cheese starts melting stir it in with the beans.
  • Once cheese is melted stir then remove from heat... careful not to burn the cheese.
  • Serve & Enjoy!
To double or triple this recipe it is just 1 can of green beans to 1 slice of cheese.

Boogie Wipes

** Disclaimer - I recieved a package of Boogie Wipes & a couple sample Boogie Wipes for my honest opinion of the Boogie Wipes.  They sent them at no cost to myself, besides my time.  (Use as directed!)
" 'Snot your average wipe! "

I have to start out by saying I LOVE Boogie Wipes!  Every parent should have these in their homes.
I always thought, "Oh, I don't need those I have regular wipes".  Boy was I wrong!  I never thought there was a difference between a regular wipe and Boogie Wipes.  Boogie Wipes don't dry out those little noses like a regular wipe does.  (I even used them for myself!)  The wipes themselves are very durable also, and work GREAT for wiping those messy face & hands too!

What is a Boogie Wipe you may be wondering?  This is what the website says...
Gentle saline wipes for stuffy noses!  They are alcohol free, extra soft & moisturized with vitamin E & aloe to keep noses from chapping when wiping and blowing all of the time.

Boogie Wipes come in 10ct., 30ct., & 45ct. packages, & a canister(90ct.).  The 10ct & 45ct come in Fresh scent and Grape scent.  The 30ct. comes in Fresh, Grape, Menthol scents & also Unscented.  The canister comes in Fresh & Grape scents, also Unscented.

If you go here there is a form you can fill out to recieve a coupon and newsletter from Boogie Wipes.
Boogie Wipes can be found in stores close to you!  To name a few.. Target, Walmart & Walgreens.

Perky Jerky beef & turkey

**Perky Jerky supplied me with the jerky for the review at no cost to myself. I was given the jerky for my honest opinion(s) on their product(s).

If you like jerky you should try Perky Jerky!

I was a little apprehensive at trying this when I got it.  A moist jerky kind of set me back, as well as turkey, but we are big jerky lovers at our home, so this was sure something new for us.  (We usually eat beef or venison jerky and my husband makes it.)

We started with beef jerky Perky Jerky.  I LOVED that I knew and could pronounce ALL ingredients!  (You don't find that very often.)  It does have Guarana in it, but I never noticed a "boost" of energy.  The taste was amazing!  It had great flavor and the moistness of it wasn't bad at all!

Here are the ingredients as listed on the Perky Jerky website..
Whole Slices of Beef, Soy Sauce, (water, wheat, soybeans, salt) Brown Sugar, Lemon Juice, Garlic Powder,

Next we tried the Turkey Perky Jerky.  My first time trying a turkey jerky like this and it wasn't bad at all!  If I had the chance I would definitely buy this again! (Either one for that matter!)  As the beef one, I never noticed any kind of "boost" from this one, but that didn't bother me one bit because the flavor was great!

As stated on the turkey Perky Jerky website here are the ingredients..
Turkey Breast, Soy Sauce, (water, wheat, soybeans, salt) Brown Sugar, Lemon Juice,
Garlic Powder, Pepper, Guarana, Organic Worcestershire Sauce, (organic rice vinegar,

snackTAXI

I recieved a snackTAXI sandwich-sack and a snack-sack.

For the snack-sack there are around 100 colors, patterns, and designs to choose from.  I choose the Dino-Dudes pattern.

Here is a size comparison of the snack-sack to a normal ziploc sandwich bag.

As you can see the snack-sack is pretty close to the size of throw away, use once, baggies that we are all use to.
I gave the snack-sack to my son to use for the day for his snacks around the house.  He is 3 and can open if pretty good.  The first thing he had in it were mini M&Ms.  None of them fell out.  I was pretty surprised by this since they are so small, but the snackTAXI worked GREAT!

Here is what the snackTAXI website says about the snack-sack...
The snack-sack neatly fits
rice cakes, pretzels or corn chips, and is equally good for carrot or celery sticks!
Dimensions: 6" W x 4.5" H

The cost for 1 snack-sake is $7.95.

You can also get the matching sandwich-sack in this print (see review below).

For the sandwich-sack there are about 60 colors, patterns, & designs to choose from.

Here is the size comparison with a sandwich size ziploc bag.

As you can see in the pictures, the sandwich-sack is just a little bigger than a normal sandwich baggie.

With having 2 kids, my 4 year old got this one to use.  Again, we put mini M&Ms in this one also.  They stayed in also, none fell out, and she could open this one fine also.

Here is what snackTAXI had to say about the sandwich-sack...
The sandwich-sack is the perfect fit for
a generous sandwich, bagel or wrap, or a hearty snack!
Dimensions: 7.5" W x 6" H

The cost for 1 sandwich-sack is $8.95.

If you are a person who likes to buy things made in the USA, these are made right in Massachusetts!

Here is what the website says for snackTAXI sack care..
It's anything goes when it comes to washing your snackTAXIs. They can be machine washed (we recommend unscented detergent) and dried in the dryer, or simply rinsed with water and air dried.
We recommend emptying them after each use to prevent food oils from being absorbed by the fabric, which happens over time.
If sacks get really mucky, or have absorbed some food oils, we've found that a soak in boiling water with mild (unscented) soap followed by drying in the hot sun or hot dryer works well!

Wondering what they are made out of??  Here is what the website states..
The exterior of a snackTAXI is comprised of 100% cotton, and the interior is lined with polyurethane coated nylon.
All materials are lead, phthalate and BPA free!
Material sources: the cotton we use is manufactured in Korea, the nylon is manufactured in Taiwan, and all of our products are manufactured in our rural Massachusetts workshop.
We're currently looking for a recycled nylon, and would love to hear any sourcing suggestions folks might have. We will also be introducing some organic cotton selections this year, to round out our offerings!

I did test each one with some water in them, since my daughter LOVES fruits and veggies and I was curious how they held up if there was liquid in them.  (The water was to simulate rinsing off the freuit and veggies.)  They did leak, but only at the bottom corners, and I am sure that if the were tipped upside down they would leak as well.  BUT.. from the water that would drip off of rinsed off fruits and veggies, I don't think it would be a problem.  You wouldn't want to put soup or something similar in them tho.

My favorite out of the 2 was the snack-sack size.  As I said above we usually use baggies for snacks for the kids during the day or on trips.  The snack-sack size was perfect for this!
